19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time coach his previous coach.

Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's initial title after the Rome competition and first on a hard court after March of that year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six finals, including in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular emotional displays on court had led commentators to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was over.

But the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.

The champion fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the final five games to go ahead.

The pair traded service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He saved four early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
